The International Service Committee serves and provides assistance to those in need throughout the world.   We have provided shelter boxes and other relief to people during time of natural disaster, such as in New Orleans during the Katrina disaster and in Haiti after the earthquake.  We have also provided books and school supplies to poor children in remote parts of Guatemala.    In Africa, we have funded a hospital for children with cancer.  We have also funded cataract surgery in order to restore the vision of many people in third work countries who otherwise would never have been able to afford such surgery.   Recently, we held an internet skype meeting with a Rotary Club in the Philippines.  We have also sought to promote cultural understanding and friendship by inviting diplomats from other countries to speak at our meetings; at recent meetings, we had the Consul General of Croatia and the Consul General from Argentina speak to us about their respective countries.
